Membership

The German Shipowners‘ Association (VDR) represents the common economic and socio-political interests of German shipping companies at federal and state level as well as vis-à-vis European and international bodies. Founded in 1907, the VDR represents the largest part of the German merchant fleet.

A central concern of the VDR is to ensure the competitiveness of Germany as a shipping location. Besides that, the VDR advocates the interests of German shipping companies, is committed to climate protection and supports the training of young maritime talent.

German Shipowners’ Association

Dating back to 1884, the Bremer Rhederverein promotes the interests of Bremen-based shipowners and maintains contact with decision-makers in politics, administration and business. It is widely regarded as a reliable and competent point of contact and regularly invites to relevant meetings.

A very special event is the annual “Bremen Shipowners‘ Evening” with high-profile guests from politics, administration, science and business. With its diverse activities, the Bremer Rhederverein maintains and strengthens awareness of the outstanding importance of shipping as the nucleus of the maritime economy in Bremen.
